How you vape and how well you look after your coils can significantly extend their lifespan. In this blog post we share our top tips on how to make sure your coil lasts longer.

Prime your coils

You’ll notice it’s time to replace your vape coil once you start experiencing a burnt taste. When you replace the coil, don’t just screw off the old coil, screw on the new, and then vape as usual: you need to prime your coils every time you replace them.

To prime the new coil, screw it into place and then saturate the wick with a few drops of eliquid. Take a few dry hits then activate the fire button and start at a lower wattage than normal and take a shorter hit. Slowly increase the wattage and the length of the drag up to your normal setting.


Avoid dry burn

Make sure you always have liquid in your tank so the coil can heat correctly. If there’s no liquid to heat, the coils heat the wicking material causing it to be used up faster. Also make sure you don’t fire too quickly as you could be leaving your coils dry between hits without realising.

Stay at lower wattages

Stay at lower wattages whenever possible to place less strain on your coil and help extend its lifespan. You can get by with 55W to 80W for most of your day-to-day vaping without missing out on anything. If you love a higher wattage accept that you’ll go through your coils faster.

Use Less Sweet E-Liquids

Sweeter e-liquids have added artificial sweeteners in them to give them their flavour, and while they taste great, they also put more strain on your coil and can clog it up. Either choose e-liquids that have a little less sweetness to them, or be prepared to change the coil heads a little more often.

Choose quality

Cheaper coils can be tempting, but they are often of lower quality, causing you to replace your coil more often. Some off-brand coils can burn out in a matter of hours! Choosing quality materials or pre-made coils might mean a slightly higher upfront cost but usually amounts to savings in the long run.
